Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland that he is not stressing about whether or not he will become England’s first choice keeper soon.
Joe Hart’s club, West Ham, have been performing poorly in the Premier League this season having lost all of their three games thus far.
In the process, the 30-year-old has also conceded 10 goals which have led to some questioning whether he deserves to still be the Three Lions first choice.
England manager Gareth Southgate even admitted that there was a fight for who will wear the jersey when his side faces off against Malta and Slovenia.
Whilst talking about the international situation, Butland said, “I’ll try and do whatever I can to be in the goal, but it’s not my decision.
“Everyone knows being No1 is what I want. But you’ve got to earn it. Hopefully I’m on my way to doing that. We’ll see what happens. All I can do is my bit.
“I feel good, I feel I’m playing well. I’ll go away with hopes of getting some game time, but it’s really a case of going away and doing as well as I can during the week, and putting my name in the hat.”
