Three Things we learned from Leeds United’s stalemate with Preston

After goals rained down in an abundant manner in their first two matches of the season, Leeds United drew a blank on Saturday at home to ten man Preston. Here are three thoughts from the match.

Wood fails to find the net

Despite having a number of chances, Leeds’ main hit man Chris Wood failed to find the back of the net for the Whites at home to Preston. The New Zealand man, who is rumored to have had a bid on him turned down in recent days, had a number of decent chances to score yet failed.

Fans of the Yorkshire club will now be worried that the Kiwis man simply isn’t up for the task at the club any longer and wants to leave. Keep a watch on his performances as the season goes on to see if this reigns true.

Possession not enough

Under new manager Thomas Christiansen, Leeds have showed a great ability on the ball to dominate opponents. This trend continued in this home match, yet for the first time this season they had no cutting edge to go along with the possession.

After so many goals in midweek and their dramatic 2-3 win at Bolton last week, this was a bit unexpected to say the least.

Borthwick-Jackson puts in good shift

Manchester United loanee Cameron Borthwick-Jackson had a good day going forward creating chances for his side, particularly after Ben Pearson was sent off for the visitors.

Just mere minutes after his dismissal, he set up Wood for a header that was headed over the bar. After that, the youngster put another ball in to Wood that was also missed. This is another positive sign for Leeds this season as they remain in the upper tier of teams in the Championship.
