Caixinha provides update regarding fitness of new signing

Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha has admitted that he thinks that he thinks that Carlos Pena is not as yet ready for first team action.

After being brought to the Ibrox club this summer, Pena has yet to be used for the Gers first team and Caixinha has admitted that he feels that the player is not fit enough to play for the main squad.

The Portuguese manager said about the 27-year-old Pena, “It’s specific work with him not just on the pitch but off it as well.

“That’s because when it’s the right moment we want to give him the chance. So far we think it’s not the right moment.”

The Mexican international Pena was an unused substitute during the Gers 2-1 win against Motherwell last weekend in their opening match of the Scottish Premiership. There is no doubt that Pena will be itching to get onto the field as he is at the prime of his career.
