Sunderland reportedly eager to complete the signing of attacker

The Black Cats are expecting to strike a deal in a couple of days to capture striker Ross McCormack on loan from Aston Villa, according to Team Talk.

Scottish striker, McCormack had a difficult 12-month spell at Aston Villa and is now likely to leave permanently. In January, McCormak was loaned to Nottingham Forest, after the Scotsman got into trouble with boss Steve Bruce for not attending training.

Last Saturday, Aston Villa boss, Steve Bruce said, “I didn’t take him to Germany. I left the door open for him. He is training well but at the moment I can’t guarantee him a game.”

With Aston Villa not keen on retaining the striker, Sunderland may clinch a loan contract and sign up McCormack. Villa had struck a massive £12million deal with Fulham for the Scottish striker, who is on contract for four years at Villa but the move has been a disaster.

Sunderland manager, Simon Grayson is confident about signing McCormack, as it would bolster the attacking options in the team.

Grayson had earlier in the season added strikers, Aiden McGeady, James Vaughan and Lewis Grabban. The Black Cats expect the deal to succeed, prior to Friday’s opening game encounter with Derby County.
