New Wolverhampton Wanderers recruit Barry Douglas has revealed that it was the style of the club’s manager Nuno Espirito Santo that convinced him to join the club this summer and added that he is looking forward to the upcoming season.
The 27-year-old Douglas also started all three games of Wolves pre-season tour of Austria and was one of four players to do so alongside the likes of Ivan Calaleiro, Willy Boly and Matt Doherty.
He said of his new club, “One of the big factors in me coming back (to the UK to join Wolves) was we were going to play football. I’m maybe not your typical British full back, I’m more about playing with the ball.
“It suits me and if we keep playing that way I think it suits a lot of the guys because we’ve got technical players. You just need to look at the squad – the quality’s there in abundance, even young guys coming through.”
The Scotland international Douglas joined Wolves from Turkish outfit Konyaspor for £1 million and could be set to be a first team regular for the upcoming season as Santo utilizes the 4-3-3 system.
