Rangers boss Caixinha remaining positive despite humiliation

Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha has revealed that he is prepared to take blame for his club’s humiliating exit from the Europa League, however he added that the disappointment will not derail his plans to transform the club ahead of next season.

The Gers were knocked out of the Europa league after suffering defeat at the hands of Luxembourg club Progres Niederkorn.

The relatively unknown club had never won a European game prior to their triumph over the Gers and claimed a 2-0 second leg victory through goals from Emmanuel Francoise and SebastienThill.

Despite the disappointing defeat, Caixinha is refusing to panic and is still aiming to transform his side ahead of next season.

The Portuguese coach told RangersTV: “I’m just disappointed. I assume all the responsibility. We could not do what we were here to do – win the game.

“What happened to us today is a once-in-a-lifetime thing. That’s part of football of course. I’m always a positive guy and never give up. We believe in this process.

“It is a strong moment we are living in now and we need to face it with all our personality, character and strength. And that is what we are going to do because I believe in this process, I believe in these players and I believe in the work we are going to do. This is a strong lesson we need to learn from.”

The defeat proves that despite the new signings that the club have acquired, there still remains a lot of hard work and development to be done if they wish to re-assert themselves as giants of Scottish football.
