Former La Liga, Ligue 1, and Serie A Full-Back Set to Make Return to Argentina

This summer has been an intriguing one in Argentina with a few players who play in Europe set to make moves back to Argentina. The latest player to go back to his home country is to be Lucas Orban of Serie A side, Genoa.

According to TYC Sports, the Argentine defender is set to join Racing Club de Avellaneda for a two-year deal with a sum near two million dollars. Orban began his career with River Plate in 2008 and moved to Tigre in 2011 where he shined and earned a move to Europe in 2013. The left-back left Argentina to join the Ligue 1 side, Bordeaux in 2013, where he earned regular playing time and earned a move to La Liga team, Valencia in 2014.

Orban stayed with Valencia until 2016, then was loaned out to Levante before joining the Italian side, Genoa. The 28-year-old did not receive much playing time this season in the Serie A only playing in 11 games, only eight as a starter. Orban does not offer much going forward and is a much more defensive-minded full-back who offers a great physical presence standing in at 6-foot.

The Argentine can also play as a centre-back offering a bit of versatility for Diego Cocca at Racing Club. The move is a positive one for both Orban, who needed a career change and for Racing who need to solidify its squad after some key departures from the club.
