Leeds star gives his seal of approval for Christiansen; Hints at Elland Road stay

Chris Wood stated that he is happy with the appointment of Thomas Christiansen as the new coach of Leeds United and that he can’t wait to come back to Elland Road and start co-operating with the Spanish manager.

He said: “It was a great season last season, both personally and for the team. We put Leeds back on the map, which was a great thing for the club. We’ve done fantastically well as a team and as a unit.

“It’s a great appointment of the new manager, an exciting new manager who did well last season. I’m looking forward to seeing what he can offer in pre-season and we go from there.”

The 25-year-old striker is currently with New Zealand national team and preparing for the Confederation Cup in Russia.

Huddersfield Town have been linked with the Championship top scorer since the season ended a few weeks, and his seal of approval for Christiansen might come as a signal from the Wood that he is not interested in signing with the new Premier League member.

The value of the potential transfer was believed to be around £15 million, but at this moment, it seems that the New Zealand international is much more likely to stay at Elland Road.

Wood has exploded since he came from Leicester back in 2015, netting 43 times in 85 games. During the past season, he scored a sensational 27 goals.
