Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has claimed that his club have been keeping up to date and are concerned about the well-being of their former player Aaron Lennon, who was detained under the Mental Health Act this week.
It was reported on Tuesday evening that the Everton winger had been taken to a hospital after police were forced to intervene. He is now said to be receiving treatment for a stress related illness.
Spurs have been one of the teams who have been supporting Lennon through his ordeal. According to journalist Ben Pearce, Pochettino stated that the club have been in contact with Lennon’s agent to see how they can assist their former star.
Lennon was a long serving player of Spurs having been part of the squad from 2005-2015. During that time, he played 364 matches in all competitions, scoring 30 goals.
He went on to join Everton in 2015 initially on loan before the deal was made permanent. This season, Lennon has dropped down the pecking order at Goodisan Park under Ronald Koeman.
