According to The Telegraph, David Moyes has been told by Sunderland owner Ellis Short that he will remain manager of the club even if they are relegated at the end of the season.
The Black Cats are currently languishing in last place on the Premiership standings and are seemingly destined for relegation; however Short remains confident that the former Everton and Manchester United manager Moyes is the correct individual to rebuild the club.
The club is set to suffer a financial loss in the region of £20 million this year. In Moyes’ defence, he was unable to lure quality players during the January transfer window in order to improve the Black Cats chances of avoiding relegation due to a lack of funds provided.
This was shown by the fact that he had to bring in an ageing Joleon Lescott to the squad to add defensive stability. While Lescott was at one point one of the finest in the Premier League, he is well past peak.
