Sunderland manager David Moyes has admitted that his team’s 0-0 draw with Burnley on Saturday “isn’t enough” as the game was one which he had hoped to win.

The Black Cats, who are in last position in the League, are seemingly destined for relegation and are now seven points adrift off safety. They have struggled all season and have yet to register an away win in the League.

Moyes said, “It’s not enough — it would have been down as one of the wins in my book, so now we have to turn one of the draws I had down into a win.

“The players know exactly how much it means and they know we have to win. We emphasised how big the game was, and they didn’t lose — but three points was really what we needed.”

Billy Jones and Seb Larsson were guilty of squandering good opportunities for the Black Cats before good goalkeeping from Burnley’s Tom Heaten denied Fabio Borini with three minutes remaining.

At the other end, impressive saves from Jordan Pickford also prevented defeat for Sunderland as the 22-year-old wonderfully denied Sam Vokes late one.
