Pochettino makes big claims about Dele Alli

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has said that he believes Dele Alli could become a complete player, after the youngster delivered an impressive performance during the North London club’s win against Southampton on Sunday.

The Spurs midfield more than managed to fill in the void left by the absence of star forward Harry Kane due to injury.

Christian Eriksen opened the scoring before Alli successfully converted from the penalty spot to take his goal tally to 18 in all competitions this season. James Ward-Prowse pulled one back for Southampton in the second half, during which Alli had to fill in as a makeshift forward.

Pochettino praised Alli for his versatility saying, “I saw him at 17 years old playing at Milton Keynes as a holding midfielder against Manchester United. And I don’t know, always he can surprise me.

“Maybe one day he can play like a goalkeeper or a full-back or a centre-back. I think it is difficult to respond to that (question) because he is a player who plays in his best position, he is a player who likes to run into the box, he is very often very clever into the box.”
