Leeds Utd defender Kyle Bartley has hinted that he would be interested in joining The Whites on a permanent move.
The 25-year-old joined the Whites from Swansea City – United manager Gary Monk’s former club – on a season-long loan in the summer. He has been one of Leeds’ best performers this season as they currently occupy the fifth spot in the league table.
Bartley, a graduate of Arsenal youth academy, has made 32 league starts for Monk’s side this season and has contributed with four goals and two assists.
However, a lot of question marks hang over his future, as he has a contract until 2018 with the Swans. He joined the Swans in 2012, but his time at the Welsh club has been far from successful.
When asked if he could envisage a long-term career with Leeds, he said (Yorkshire Evening Post): “It’s difficult to say at this point. I’m obviously contracted to Swansea and I have a lot of respect for the club and the chairman so I’m not in a position to say at the moment.
“But come the end of the season, in the summer, then hopefully we should know more and we’ll see what happens.”
However, he did maintain that he enjoyed his time with the Whites and would love to come back at the club in the summer: “I have had a fantastic season. Leeds has been great for me, the fans have really got behind me and I love all the players and the staff – they have been fantastic.
“So if that opportunity does come and Swansea are willing to let me leave then that would definitely be something I would be interested in.”
