Inspiring Ex-Leeds United star set for return to football at 22

Eliott Kebbie left Leeds United at 17 years old, earning a dream move to Spanish giants Atletico Madrid. However his progress as a player was curtailed by unfortunate events.

A debilitating illness made it impossible for him to play as he was confined to a wheelchair. After contracting the Epstein-Barr virus, Kebbie was left with chronic fatigue which lasted for two years.

For the player, all of this created emotional turmoil leading to him becoming suicidal. He had spells with Hull City, Salford and recently Barnsley as he tried to regain fitness.

Kebbie is just 22 and is set aim to re-establish himself as a footballer at Norwegian club Sandefjord, who are managed by former Blackburn Rovers and Nottingham Forest midfielder Lars Bohinen.

“My old coach from Leeds United, Shaun Constable, is the assistant manager here [Sandjeford]. He got in touch with me just before Christmas and told me there’s a really good opportunity to get some regular first-team football here and it was a bit of a no-brainer as that’s something that I’ve needed,” Kebbie told ITV News.
