Manchester City eyeing shock double swoop from Tottenham

Manchester City made enquires for Tottenham’s duo Danny Rose and Kyle Walker last summer and reports from Goal suggest that the Blues remain interested in the two and are aware that they will have to fork out a large sum of money to sign even one of them.

Walker and Rose who are both 26 have been in outstanding form over the past 18 months and are versatile, being able to operate effectively as wing-backs or in a flat back four. City have been eyeing homegrown players and defensive reinforcements since the summer and made enquires for the two which were given short shrift by Spurs.

The transfers will certainly not be easy on City’s side, given that both players new five year deals worth around £70,000 per week earlier this season. Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will also be aware of City’s need to satisfy UEFA homegrown quotas.

UEFA stipulate that clubs must include eight locally trained players in their squads for European competition and at least four must have been trained by the clubs academy.

England internationals Joe Hart, Fabian Delph and Gael Clichy who qualifies as a homegrown player through his time with Arsenal are likely to leave during the summer meaning City will need to make homegrown signings.  So if one or both of Kyle Walker and Danny Rose leave, it will be at a very high cost.
