Genk winger Leon Bailey has responded to the transfer speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United, saying he’d only move there if the Red Devils could guarantee him enough playing time.

Speaking to Belgian newspaper HNL Sport, the highly-rated 19-year-old winger also confessed his love for the Premier League, but stressed he would not leave Genk to sit on the bench.

“I’ve always dreamt of the Premier League,” Bailey said. “But if, let’s say, Manchester United can’t guarantee me minutes, I will stay at Genk.

“When I go, where do I go? That is a matter for my management. From the moment there is something concrete, we’ll sit down at the table.”

Baily has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford over the past few months, with the Red Devils reportedly keen to sign him in January.

The pacy winger moved to the Luminus Arena from Slovakian side Trenčín last year and has since established himself as one of the most promising attackers in European football.

He’s made 18 appearances in all competitions for Genk this season, scoring 6 goals.

It appears as though his impressive displays for the Belgian club haven’t gone unnoticed and he could soon find himself at one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Baily is only 19 years old, but it seems like he already knows what’s best for his development and long-term career.

Regular first-team football should always be the most important thing for a young player and it appears as though Baily has accepted that notion.

He’d have plenty of chances to play at United if the transfer materializes. The Red Devils have plenty of options on the wings, but the Jamaican would still have more than enough opportunities to play as most of United’s wingers are currently underperforming.
