After weeks of speculation, Ilkay Gundogan announced on his personal Twitter account that he will be a Manchester City player next season. The tweet urged the English club to announced the signing.

Manchester Cityâs official website soon confirmed the move as well.
Gundogan made over 150 appearances for his previous club Borussia Dortmund. He missed nearly all of the 2013-14 season due to a back injury that required surgery.
The German international, whoâs parents are Turkish, suffered a knee injury near the end of this season, which means he will not participate for the German national team in this summerâs European Championship.
The 25-year-old becomes the first signing for new Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, who saw a lot of him over the last three years while he managed Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga. Gundogan played in 40 games this campaign, but did not play in the DFB-Pokal Final against his future manager.
Gundogan first arrived at Dortmund before the 2011-12 season and helped them achieve the league and cup double in his first year. He might be most remembered for scoring Dortmundâs lone goal in their defeat in the 2013 Champions League Final to Bayern Munich, from the penalty spot.
In an off-season that looks to have Manchester City make big changes with the arrival of Guardiola, Gundogan arriving at the Etihad is only the start. His technical abilities make him an obvious target for Guardiola who prefers a quick tempo position style of football.
