Louis Van Gaal believes that they need to win the FA Cup for the fans, as they have stood by the team the whole season. “They were always there and in my opinion unconditional. They have never let us down, so they deserve it more than anyone else,” said the Dutchman.
Manchester United face a Crystal Palace side which lacked consistency after a promising start to the Premier League. But they haven’t failed to impress in the FA Cup. The Eagles played with determination to win, as they defeated first flight football teams, namely Tottenham, Southampton, Stoke City and Watford.
Van Gaal believes that what makes the FA Cup Title crucial for Manchester United is the fact that they have not won it since 2004.
“I have read that the last FA Cup win (for United) was 2004, so it’s a long time ago. For Manchester United it is a big title, especially now as it was a long time ago.”
Although, not many things have gone their way this season. Manchester United has been far from challenging for any Title this season and the FA Cup is the closest one in their reach. Thus, winning the FA Cup and repaying fans for their support is the best thing Louis Van Gaal and his team can do.
