Manchester United reportedly joins race to sign Spanish International

Manchester United and Arsenal have already made their moves to sign Juventus striker Alvaro Morata, according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

Di Marzio, who broke the Matteo Darmian to United transfer last summer, is reporting that United and Arsenal are leading the chase for the Spaniard, but face competition from Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain. The report also states that Morata has already rejected the advances of Napoli, as he prefers a move to the English Premier League.

The 23-year-old was named in Vicente Del Bosque’s 23-man squad for next month’s European Championship in France and is generally regarded as one of the most talented strikers in European football, despite only scoring 11 goals in 46 appearances for Juventus this season.

Juventus convinced Real Madrid to sell Morata only two years ago, but it looks like they could be on the verge of losing him. If the Turin-based club could make a profit on a player who isn’t even a regular starter for them, it could prove to be a shrewd business decision.

Despite being in and out of the Juventus starting eleven, Morata’s ability is undeniable and his inclusion in Del Bosque’s Euro 2016 squad at the expense of Diego Costa and Fernando Torres is not a coincidence.

It’s hard to predict how well he’d adapt to the Premier League, but there are always risks involved when it comes to signing players from other leagues. However, if United and Arsenal expect Morata to be a prolific goal-scorer from the get-go, they should look elsewhere.
