Reports from sports website Goal.com indicate that Jose Mourinho has already signed a pre-contract agreement with United that would see him replace Van Gaal as coach, and now attention has turned to who exactly is on his wish list for the upcoming transfer window.
Spanish news outlet Don Balon is reporting that Mourinho, who has been out of work since leaving Chelsea in December, has his scouts taking a look at three star players in particular: “Napoli’s Gonzalo Higuain, Real Madrid playmaker James Rodriguez and Juventus forward Alvaro Morata all on his radar.”
A £58m move for Higuain could be in the works, but nothing is certain as the pre-contract arrangement still allows United to back out of the deal, though at the cost of a massive £15m to be awarded to the 53 year-old coach.
Speculation will undoubtedly continue over whether Mourinho will fork out the massive sum for the 28 year-old French-born Argentine, who currently plays striker for Italian club Napoli. Other possible signings, such as Alvaro Morata, would also require a significant financial investment; Real Madrid stand to make a hefty profit in any move to England for the Juventus striker.
