Tottenham Strongest Possible Lineup vs Swansea: Kane to return in a 4-2-3-1

Tottenham Hotspur are back to playing Premier League matches as they take on Swansea City on Sunday at White Hart Lane.

Spurs are coming off a 3-0 win against Fiorentina in the Europa League while Swansea have not won a match this month. The Swans however are well rested after a two week break from action, and under new manager Francesco Guidolin looked to have things turning around before the loss to Southampton two weeks ago.

Mauricio Pochettino is likely to make few changes to the Spurs’ squad from Wednesday as Tottenham have been hit with a little injury bug. Mousa Dembélé and Tom Carroll are still injured along with Clinton N’Jie and Jan Vertoghen. Harry Kane is recovering from a broken nose, but should start on Sunday. Pochettino won’t risk his star man if he’s not 100 percent though.

Only two points behind league leaders Leicester City, Tottenham should expect to win against a Swansea team that is floating just above relegation. Tottenham need to grab all three points on Sunday as they have two big derby matches later in the week against West Ham and Arsenal. The momentum they get from this match could be vital for later on in the week.

With that being said, here’s the lineup I think Pochettino will be going with on Sunday.

Goalie

Hugo Lloris – Lloris will be in net on Sunday after returning to action against Fiorentina on Thursday.

Defence

Pochettino will be rotating his fullbacks once again. Kyle Walker will start in place of Kieran Trippier and Danny Rose will start for Ben Davies. Toby Alderweireld and Kevin Wimmer will once again be the centre-backs.

Alderweireld looks like the signing of the season for Tottenham and Wimmer is gaining more and more confidence every match and looks like he’s starting to get comfortable back there.

Midfield

Eric Dier will start again as the holding midfielder while Ryan Mason should get the start in place of the injured Dembélé. Mason is in great form putting in a performance against Fiorentina that could of earned him man of the match.

He was a usual member of the first team at the start of the season but an injury against Sunderland, plus the rise of Dele Alli and the revival of Dembélé,  kept him out of the starting lineup for a long period of time. Look for the Englishmen to continue his good run of form on Sunday.

In the attacking midfield Christian Eriksen will get the start at the No. 10 role. Alli will be to Eriksen’s left while Erik Lamela, who had a great performance against Fiorentina, will be on the right. Lamela will look to cause problems for Ashley Williams and that backline by forcing mistakes as he’s one of the best at pressing high up the pitch for Spurs.

Striker

Harry Kane – Kane should start on Sunday, as I said earlier. However if the Englishman ins’t ready to play, Pochettino won’t risk it with West Ham and Arsenal later in the week. If Kane doesn’t start, look for Nacer Chadli to start again at striker.

Swansea have scored just 24 goals this season while Tottenham have conceded the least amount of goals in the Premier League. Not the best matchup for the Swans.

Spurs have had a ton of matches recently in a short span of days and fatigue could be setting in for Pochettino’s side. But with the run of form they’ve been on in the Premier League they should take care of the Welsh side on Sunday.
