Manchester United Legend says Shaw’s Horrific Injury “was a brilliant challenge”

Manchester United legend Roy Keane has said something most Man Utd fans will not want to hear. While talking to ITV about the hard tackle that led to Luke Shaw’s awful injury, which will leave the defender sideline for many months, Keane stated:

“I thought it was a brilliant challenge. I love the physical side of the game.”

That’s right, one of Man Utd’s greatest players is a fan of the hard tackle that will keep a star youngster off the pitch for a long while. However, Keane did make a pretty good argument as to why Hector Moreno’s tackle was a good challenge:

“You can always tell by player reactions and none of the United lads at the time, and players are best judges because they are nearest the tackle, didn’t react over the top thinking it was a bad challenge”

Keane does bring up a good point, none of the Man Utd players went after Moreno immediately following the tackle. Unfortunately for Red Devils fans, the Mexican player’s hard, yet clean tackle will leave Luke Shaw out of the game for many months.

Do you agree with Keane’s statement, or do you think someone so closely linked to Manchester United’s history should refrain from such a statement?
