Alexis Sanchez: Arsenal’s Most Lethal Gun

Top Gun(ner)

Alexis Sanchez has been a very important asset to many of the teams he has been a part of over the years. Among the teams he has passed through are Colo Colo, of the Chilean first division, River Plate, of the Argentine first division, and FC Barcelona, of Spain. At all teams, he made a name for himself, he left his mark, and caught the attention of many with his abilities on the pitch.

But why will he be Arsenal’s greatest asset this season?

The reasons are simple.

Copa America: A Boost of Confidence

One who watches the English Premier League can clearly see that confidence is not something Alexis Sanchez lacks. Since arriving in England, where he became part of the North London team’s Arsenal, the Chilean has appeared thirty five times and scored sixteen goals. In one year, he has averaged about a goal every two games.

In addition to being part of an important team in the Premier League, the Chilean was part of the select few that were called to represent Chile at the 2015 edition of the Copa America.

Sanchez was a big part in Chile’s journey to keeping the trophy at home, and the hosts Chile ended up defeating Argentina at the final, during penalty kicks. Arsenal’s very own Sanchez was the man who took the last penalty, the penalty that gave his country its first ever Copa America trophy.

This was very important because the victory over the Argentines this summer kept the players motivated. One of the players who this will benefit most is Alexis Sanchez.

He has already been part of the most important teams in Latin America, as well as Europe, and the Copa America win has put him at the top and in the eyes of everyone. Sanchez will have to prove that participating in that tournament over the summer–and winning it–was not an act of luck. The best way he can show what he’s got in his Arsenal is by leading his club to many victories, just as he did with Chile.

Outstanding Resume

Sanchez has been in various teams over the years, one of the most notable being FC Barcelona, where he shared a spotlight with other big name players such as Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta, Xavi Hernandez, and David Villa.

After a brief loan spell at Latin American giants like River Plate and Colo Colo, Sanchez joined the Blaugrana side in 2011 for a fee of 26 million euros.

He would remain in Barcelona for three years, where he not only won titles, he also was able to work on his skills, learning from some of the best. One of his team mates was Lionel Messi, of Argentina, who is considered by many to be the best in the world. Sanchez played eighty-eight matches with the Catalanes and scored thirty-nine goals, and was part of the 2013 squad that won the league title.

In the end, Sanchez has made a wonderful addition to the Arsenal squad, and he will probably help them achieve plenty more victories.
