Among the teams challenging for a top four finish this season, Arsenal are widely expected to be the busiest during the January transfer window.

However given manager Arsene Wenger’s habit of only making moves in the transfer market late on, Arsenal are yet to complete any deals as of yet.

As a result, Wenger is increasingly coming under pressure from the fans to reinforce his squad and the Frenchman has finally hinted that he will conduct a bit of business in the upcoming days.

Names such as Petr Cech, Loic Perrin and Isco had been mentioned in the media as potential targets for the Gunners but Wenger stated that he will not make a move for any one of the aforementioned trio of players.

But one player whom he did admit interest in was Polish wonderkid Krystian Bielik. It has been widely claimed that Arsenal were looking to sign Bielik over the past few weeks and to further add fuel to the speculation, the player’s agent, Cezary Kucharski, had confirmed Arsenal’s approach for the 17-year old.

Bielik himself, then went on to state that he has already set his heart on a move to Arsenal and that he is confident of the deal going through.

The midfielder had said, “I’ve made a decision [to join Arsenal] and I’m not going to change it. I am looking forward to an agreement between the heads of the clubs. I realise that the negotiations may take some time. I am, however, confident it will happen soon.”

Now, the usually coy Wenger has also admitted his interest in signing Bielik by saying that he is closely monitoring the young man but insisted that no deal has been put in place as of yet.

Speaking to reporters, Wenger said, “He (Krystian Bielik) is a young boy that we follow, yes. We are not very close at the moment.”

Arsenal were said to have made a bid of around £1.6million in an aim to land Bielik but the offer has been rebuffed and it is believed that the Gunners will have to raise their bid to £2.5million to stand a chance of signing the youngster.
