Gone are the days when Chelsea used to be a club who would mindlessly spent astronomical amounts to sign every available superstars.

With the introduction of the financial fair play, Chelsea have become really sensible in their spending and as a testament to this fact, they even announced a profit of £18.4 million and a record turnover of £319.8 million for the previous fiscal year.

While it is not to say that Chelsea do not spend big anymore, the Blues have now become a more cost-effective organization and tend to offset their expenditure by selling the assets present at their club for a healthy profit-margin as the sales of Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku and Juan Mata among others, can testify.

Apart from their sensible business model, Chelsea are now also purchasing young players at a cheaper price rather than buying only established superstars.

Talented youngsters such as Mario Pasalic, Marco van Ginkel, Christian Atsu and Isaiah Brown have been brought in over the last few seasons and even if they do not go on to become regular first team players, Chelsea can certainly benefit by offloading them for a profit.

Now in their relentless drive to recruit top young talents from all around the world, it is being reported that the Blues have agreed a deal to sign Croatian sensation Andrej Kramaric.

Kramaric has been creating waves in Croatia with his ridiculously impressive goalscoring record over the last few years for HNK Rijeka. The 23-year old has managed 27 goals in just 24 appearances this season and has unsurprisingly, caught the attention of a host of top clubs including Chelsea.

According to reports, the Blues are said to be leading the race to secure the services of Kramaric and now to fuel further speculation that the striker will be on his way to Stamford Bridge, Atalanta sporting director Pierpaolo Marino has stated that the Premier League giants are certain to sign the young man.

Marino, who is also interested in Kramaric, conceded defeat in his hopes of signing the striker and revealed that the 23-year old is bound for Chelsea.

The Atalanta chief said, “I believe that he is signing for Chelsea. He is a player we have followed for a long time.”

No official word has come out of either Chelsea or HNK Rijeka to confirm the deal but it seems that Kramaric will be joining the Blues in January.

With the likes of Loic Remy and Didier Drogba not getting a game due Diego Costa’s brilliant form, it looks unlikely that Kramaric will be handed regular first team football if indeed he does arrive.

However, given his wonderful talent, the young man could prove to be a profitable signing for Chelsea – even if he is not able to break into the first team.
