Formation: 4-2-3-1

Goalkeeper: Thibaut Courtois
To the surprise of many Chelsea fans, former starting keeper Petr Čech did not get the start against FC Schalke midweek. Hopefully the veteran keeper will start in the Captial One Cup this year. Courtois will face his biggest test between the posts against City.

Right Back: Branislav Ivanovic
Ivanovic continued his stellar campaign with another great game against Schalke midweek. The Serbian has been a threat against enemy goalkeepers.

Center Backs: John Terry and Gary Cahill
The most reliable pairing at the back will have their most difficult test of the season so far. Manchester City’s explosive attack will push Terry and Cahill to their limits.

Left Back: Cesar Azpilicueta
Filipe Luis got his first start for Chelsea midweek and it was quite impressive. Impressive enough to keep Azpilicueta out of the lineup? It’s unlikely. For such an important game, Mourinho will go with proven reliability.

Center Defensive Midfielders: Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic
Fabregas has proven himself as a world class midfielder in the Premier League once again. A highlight reel of Fabregas assists is probably in the making. Nemanja Matic’s height and physical prowess will match up against Yaya Toure.

Left Wing: Eden Hazard
This is the game to break out for Hazard. The Belgian wizard will be facing the best defense of the season. At this point, it’s almost a guarantee to see a signature twinkle toe dance around the box.

Center Attacking Midfielder: Oscar
Still looking to recover last season’s form, Oscar will need to use his quick feet to feed the ball to goal scorers.

Right Wing: Willian
Willian will surely add some pace to the squad on the wing. The Brazilian will look to link up with his fellow forwards.

Striker: Diego Costa
Jose Mourinho guaranteed Costa to start against City. Diego Costa has been the talk of world football after his hat-trick last Premier League game against Swansea City. If Costa can continue his incredible form against City he will be Chelsea legend
