As the transfer window comes to a close, there could still be another big name signing on their way to the Premier League. The Guardian have reported that, Monaco have offered Falcao for £55m to Manchester City and Arsenal. Speculation has been surrounding the striker’s future all summer, and has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, which appears to have fallen through. This suggests either Arsenal or Man City will be his next location.

Due to financial fair play rules, Man City will need to offload a few players before they can make a move for Falcao. The rules allow Man City a net spend of £49m, and currently their net spend is £24m. Many players have been linked with a move away from the club, including Alvaro Negredo, who has interested Spanish club Valencia. Also Scott Sinclair, Micah Richards and Matija Nastasic have all expressed their desire to leave the club, in search of regular game time. The club could avoid this situation by offering a loan deal, with the option to buy the player next season. They would have to pay £20m to cover his wages nand a fee to Monaco for the player. However, it seems likely that Negredo will depart the club to Valencia on a loan deal with the option to buy for £20m.

Do City Need Another Striker?

Although Negredo looks as if he is on his way out, Man City will still have 3 world class strikers, in Dzeko, Aguero and Jovetic. If Falcao came to the club, the competition would be extremely high for a place in the team, and maybe too high. With Jovetic finally finding his form, there isn’t one of these strikers who stands out as the main striker. They are all competing for their place in the team and it is very close between them, as they are all in fine form. It could be too much for Man City, as they would struggle to all get regular game time. They already have incredible strength in depth, with their attacking options, and another signing would be unnecessary. However, it wouldn’t surprise many if he joined the club, as Man City aren’t the type of club to worry about having too many players.

The signing may be unnecessary, but he would add a lot to the squad, because he is one of the best in the world, and he would be a great addition to many teams. He has a lot of qualities, he is quick, strong, great in the air and he is a world class finisher. He will get into dangerous areas with his clever, incisive runs and Silva and Nasri, will constantly be looking to play him into these dangerous areas. He has the natural ability to bag 20 goals a season, so his signing would not be a negative thing in the slightest.

This is certainly a deal I could see going through, but I honestly feel that it is 50/50 between them and Arsenal, who are also interested. He would make a huge impact on either club and on the Premier League.
