According to Mirror, Manchester United manager David Moyes is searching for ways to resolve the midfield crisis in his squad. The Red Devils have had a lot of players come in to the physio room since the start of the season, and many of the ones who are actually available for selection are in poor form at the moment. Therefore, it is no wonder that the United manager wants to bring reinforcements to the club.
Ilkay Gundogan is, again, a target for the champions of England. Borussia Dortmund was keen to keep him and his services, but in the last few weeks the situation has changed.
Robert Lewandowski betrayed his coach Klop by agreeing to play with arch-rivals Bayern Munich, similar to Goetze, and he will play for the Bavarian powerhouse from the next season on. Borussia won’t get a penny from that transfer, and since Gundogan’s contract is set to expire at the end of the next season, they won’t allow for the Lewa scenario to take place again.
The Borussia board is pressuring the German international player to state clearly whether or not he would sign a new contract with Dortmund, and Gundogan’s answer was that is too early to talk about that.
Borussia doesn’t want to gamble again, so they could sell Gundogan in January, if they receive a justly priced offer. Reportedly, Moyes is willing to pay a hefty price – 24 million pounds for his services, and that offer will surely tempt Borussia.
Gundogan’s value is dropping due to his injury – he last played on August 14, 2013, and it was a friendly match between Germany and Paraguay, in which he got injured.
Considering that fact, this massive offer could be a gamble for Moyes, but he is counting on the unquestioned quality of Gundogan, and considers this to be a perfect timing for pushing up that deal. Moyes needs something to help salvage this awful season, and Gundogan might be exactly what his squad needs.
