Since Niklas Bendtner and Theo Walcott got injured, it is clear that Arsenal must bring a new attacker to the squad, or even two of them. The problem is that Arsenal would be faced with a surplus of players in the attack once all of their injured players are recovered and back in the game. So, the logical choice for Wenger to make is landing an attacker, but on loan until the end of the season.
According to the Daily Mail, the French manager is highly keen on bringing the Real Madrid youngster Alvaro Morata to the club for a loan until the end of the season. Morata needs some playing time in one of the European top clubs, since it is clear that, despite the fact he’s been in solid form from the start of the season, he won’t get much of this necessary playing time at Madrid. Morata scored twice in La Liga this season.
It is believed that Morata would easily fit with the Arsenal squad. The Spanish forward has made his name by nailing the goals from clear chances coming set up for him by others in the Real Madrid ranks, and he is considered to be a great finisher, and moves excellently without the ball, too. With Mesut Ozil, Ramsey, Wilshere, Cazorla and other great creative midfielders that Arsenal has, Morata could produce a lot.
Arsenal made an inquiry about Morata, and Real answered that they will have to pay the player his full wage, and in addition to that pay them 2 million euro, without an option to buy out his contract at the end of the season. Wenger hoped for the buy-out option in the loan contract, and it is unclear whether he will agree on this kind of deal.
Of course, Real is free to set these impossible conditions, because they know that Arsenal is desperate after an injury to Theo Walcott and they are forced to bring in another attacker – which gives the Spanish team the freedom to play dirty.
