The Atlas vs Leon match will take place on Saturday, July 27, 2013 (7:00 PM Pacific) at the Estadio Jalisco in Guadalajara. Both teams started off the season with positive results, and will want to continue with that streak.
Atlas began the season with a 3-3 away draw at the always difficult Estadio Caliente. True, Atlas was facing a Xolos that was missing 4 key players, but the resilience the Guadalajara based team demonstrated made them worthy of the 3-3 draw. The end result is in great part due to the fantastic performance from Vuoso.
Vuoso scored his first goal via a penalty kick, scored Atlas’ second goal off a fantastic chilenita and gave the assist for the third goal. If Vuoso has a similar level of play against Leon, you can expect the Guadalajara based team to come off with the victory.
Vuoso Chilenita
Leon’s first game of the season was a 1-0 victory over a weak Atlante. Leon has a strong squad that has been reinforced with quality players such as Elias Hernandez and Mauro Boselli. These players can make a difference at any given moment.
Given that the Leon ownership spent quite a bit of money reinforcing the team, it is almost certain that Matosas must have a good season, or he will be released. The Clausura 2013 was a disaster for Leon, playing at a level far below from what we saw in the Apertura 2012. Matosas started off with a win this season, but anything other than a playoff appearance would not bode well for him.
Atlas vs Leon 2013 Prediction
The Atlas vs Leon game is (on paper at least) supposed to be a low-scoring game, but you never really know this early in the season. Atlas is typically a defensive minded team, but in the last game against Xolos, it allowed 3 and scored 3. I expect things to return back to normal. The Atlas vs Leon match will end in a 1-0 victory for Atlas, look for Vuoso to be the player of the match.
