The Gremio vs LDU Quito Copa Libertadores 2013 match will be this Wednesday, January 30, 2013 (7:00 PM EDT) at the Arena do Gremio.  After losing during the first leg 1-0, Gremio from Porto Alegre needs to win by two goals in order to access the group stages of the Copa Bridgestone Libertadores.  Liga de Quito will play a defensive game to try to prevent the opposing team from scoring more than 1 goal.

Gremio receives Liga de Quito with the absence of goalkeeper Dida who is out with an injury, but with the presence of new signing Eduardo Vargas.  The Brazilian club will play an offensive style because after losing 1-0 in Ecuador, they now need to win by 2 goals.  A 1-0 win will define the series in penalty kicks, while am scenario where Quito scores but Gremio wins by one means Quito advances due to the away goal.

Liga de Quito will have a very difficult game because they will play to defend their goal and counter-attack to try to score once.  If Gremio has an early goal, this could translate into defeat for Quito because Gremio will play offensively all match-long.  The winner of the series will advance to Group 8 composed of Fluminense (BRA), Huachipato (CHI), and Caracas (VEN).

Gremio vs LDU Quito Prediction

On the first leg, Liga de Quito demonstrated their capacity to play in important Libertadores games.  This is a team with a good balance, and a strong defense, however, they will need to score at least a goal in Porto Alegre to secure their qualification.  Gremio will have the support of around 60,000 fans on Wednesday night, and that pressure could affect the Ecuadorian side.  Gremio will have the debut of Chilean international striker, Eduardo Vargas, making their offense into a threat.  The Gremio vs LDU Quito match will end 2-1 in favor of Gremio, but with this score LDU Quito will pass due to the away goal advantage.
