This Friday, February 23, 2018 (7:00 PM Pacific) Atlas will host Monterrey at the Estadio Jalisco for a game in the ninth round of matches of the Liga MX Clausura 2018. Both teams are coming off losses in Week 8 of the competition and should be motivated to get the three points from this game.

Atlas is the clear underdog in this match-up, currently dead last in the Liga MX Clausura 2018 with just four points. Los Zorros have not won in their last three but have a talented squad with players like Clifford Aboagye and Ravel Morrison, and do tend to play better at home.

Ruben Omar Romano has not proved to be the solution for this team as it is trending downwards and a shot for a playoff position does not look very promising. The talented core of players has not clicked and the manager may be the main problem with Los Rojinegros.

Monterrey is off to a slow start in this Clausura 2018, currently in seventh place with 12 points but still has one of the best rosters in Mexican football. Los Rayados have not won in their last three games, coming off a disappointing 3-0 loss to Necaxa. Despite this horrendous form, Antonio Mohamed’s side is still considered a serious title contender and one of the better teams in the Liga MX.

Players like Aviles Hurtado, Dorlan Pabon and Rogelio Funes Mori have made this team a force. Alfonso Gonzalez has also had a breakout season with four goals and will be a player to watch in his return to the Estadio Jalisco.

Atlas vs Monterrey Prediction

Monterrey should be able to walk away with the three points even if Atlas has the home-field advantage. Los Rayados have the much better team and are under much better management with Antonio Mohamed at the helm. FutnSoccer predicts a dominant 3-1 win for Los Regios, bouncing back from their current unstable form.
