West Ham boost as injured star looks to return to action soon

West Ham travel to face Liverpool next weekend when the Premier League resumes action, and the Hammers have been handed a huge boost ahead of the clash.

Argentine creative midfielder Manuel Lanzini could make the matchday squad for the 28th round of games after he gave an update on his injury recovery.

The 25-year-old has missed the last 4 games to a hamstring injury, and with just a victory to their name within that time frame, it’s safe to say the east Londoners missed their highest assist provider.

Lanzini seems fit enough to make the crucial tip to Anfield, though, and he revealed during the week:

“I’m feeling good. My injury is getting better every day and I’m expect to be back very soon. I’m training hard and I expect to go back with the team next week.”

Lanzini also revealed he can’t wait to finally link up with January loan arrival Joao Mario.

The Portugal international has already eased his way into the starting lineup since arriving from Inter Milan, playing 4 games and weighing in an assist.

It’s widely believed Lanzini needs another creative genius behind him on the pitch to unleash his full potential, and both players are bound to form a formidable partnership once they click in the long run.

In the words of the eager Argentine: “It’s great that Marko is back now. He is a very good player and we need him.

“I’m also looking forward to playing with Joao Mario. He is an important player and together we have good qualities.”

West Ham head into the next game 12th on the league table with 30 points, but they are only 4 points away from the relegation zone.
