According to reports, Tottenham have identified Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi as the perfect candidate to replace Harry Kane, should the Englishman depart the club during the summer.
Kane has firmly established himself as one of the world’s best footballers and he is reportedly a priority summer target of Spanish giants Real Madrid who are expected to undergo a major squad revolution as a result of their disappointing performances this season.
Though Icardi will not come cheap, Spurs will be able to afford him if Kane is sold as the Englishman is expected to command a fee of around £200 million.
Icardi is also widely regarded as being one of Europe’s best strikers. He has been in brilliant form this season and has gone on to score 18 goals from 22 Serie A appearances.
Though he is not as prolific as Kane, Icardi does boast more pace and is arguably a more technically gifted player.
