According to a report published by the Daily Mail, Leicester City had wanted Patrick Roberts who is on loan at Celtic as part of a deal which would have seen Riyadh Mahrez join Manchester City.
City’s best offer for the Algerian towards the end of the transfer window was reportedly a £50 million plus player deal with the player being Roberts.
The 20-year-old Roberts is spending a second season on loan with Celtic and has had to miss the majority of this season through injury and has gone on to play only 12 games so far.
He did however play a key role in terms of helping the Hoops to win the domestic treble unbeaten last season and this obviously indicates that the Foxes rate him highly.
From a Celtic point-of-view, it is good that Roberts did not end up leaving as he is likely to end up playing a key role for the club towards the latter stages of the season.
