As per The Scottish Sun, Crystal Palace were keen on making a late swoop on Celtic striker Moussa Dembele on Wednesday, making enquiries about the availability of the 21-year-old Frenchman.
However, the Hoops made it clear that he wasn’t for sale, ending any chance of seeing the former Fulham man return to England.
Dembele had been linked with a Premier League move since the start of January, with Brighton very much keen and offering £12million for his services.
The Eagles made no bid, as they reckoned testing Celtic’s resolve at that point would’ve been a waste of time.
With Leigh Griffiths out for at least a month, Celtic will be left very thin in the striking department if they entertained offers for Dembele, and it wasn’t a gamble they were ready to take for any amount of cash.
The Hoops strengthened at the back late on deadline day, with centre-back Jack Hendry and goalkeeper Scott Bain both arriving from Dundee.
The French starlet is very likely to leave Parkhead by summer, though, and the club will likely be preparing for life without him by identifying striking targets ahead of the next window.
