BBC Reporter Greg O’Keeffe has claimed that Everton rejected offers for five first-teamers including Phil Jagielka, Morgan Schneiderlin, Ashley Williams and Tom Davies last month.
It is also understood that the Merseysiders turned down a straight cash deal for striker Oumar Niasse.
O’Keeffe wrote on Twitter: “I’m told #EFC received loan bids for Jagielka, Schneiderlin, Williams, and Davies yesterday plus a straight cash offer for Niasse. Lookman’s odd situation aside SA had said no to loans & needs Niasse for impact even if he couldn’t shoot straight last night.”
Despite their rejections, Everton did have a busy final day of the January transfer window as they brought in Eliaquim Mangala from Manchester City while they allowed Mo Besic, Louis Gray and Ademola Lookman to leave the club on loan.
The Toffees certainly made a good decision in not letting any of their most senior players depart the club as it would have depleted the squad of experience.
While Jagielka and Williams do not have much longer left in the game, they have done their part this season and their experience could play a key role for the Toffees going into the latter games of the season.
