Liverpool reportedly looking forward to learning from van Dijk

Liverpool youngster Joe Gomez has revealed that he is excited by the arrival of Virgil Van Dijk at Anfield and he feels that there is a lot that he can learn from the Dutchman.

Van Dijk completed a transfer from Southampton to Liverpool on New Year’s Day in a deal worth £75 million. The 27-year old will likely become Jurgen Klopp’s first choice centre-back over the coming weeks and this will result in Gomez dropping down the pecking order at the club.

Gomez who has impressed this season, making 22 first team appearances is looking forward to learning from Van Dijk.

He said: “Personally, for me, it’s someone else I can learn from. He is an experienced defender with a lot of quality.

“It’s another person for me to develop and learn from, the same as I have with [Liverpool’s other defenders]. It’s nice to have someone else to try to help you develop. And for the team it is another massive signing.”
