Liverpool defender Ragnar Klavan has welcomed Liverpool signing Virgil Van Dijk even though it will threaten his chances of first team action.
Van Dijk arrived at Anfield on Monday in a record breaking £75 million deal and Klavan is one of the men who is expected to see his first team chances restricted as a result of the arrival of the Dutchman.
The 32-year old Klavan has however welcomed the signing of Van Dijk and the Estonian also started off the year on a good note by scoring a 94th minute winner to help Liverpool defeat Burnley on Monday.
Klavan is relishing the challenge that awaits him and said: “He is a good addition to our team. It is like it is for everyone: there is competition and competition is good for all places.”
Liverpool’s defence has looked shaky at times this season and they will hope that the addition of Van Dijk will improve things significantly.
