According to The Sun, Rangers want to sign Arsenal youngster Marcus McGuane on loan till the end of the season, but must beat off competition from Napoli and a host of suitors.
The defensive midfielder, 18, made his debut for the Gunners during September’s Europa League match against BATE Borisov, but has been cleared to go on loan this month in order to continue his development.
McGuane’s representatives reckon a move to Ibrox could do the versatile teenager a lot of good, and the Gers’ Director of Football Mark Allen will enter into talks with Arsenal in the coming days.
Rangers could do with a promising box-to-box midfielder like the England youth international, while the fact that he can also play at centre-back and wing-back makes him a great and valuable option.
Juventus, Manchester United and City are said to have kept tabs on McGuane as his contract issue dragged on last year, while a couple of English Championship are also keen.
The Light Blues could be doing themselves and the player a lot of good should a winter move go through given how both parties can be beneficial to one another going forward.
