As per The Guardian, Newcastle are keeping tabs on Rennes winger Firmin Ndombe Mubele as manager Rafa Benitez looks to bolster his attacking ranks this month.
The £10million-rated DR Congo is finally finding his feet in the French Ligue 1 after struggling to replace Ousmane Dembele following his departure to Borussia Dortmund upper summer.
Mubele has scored 5 league goals and assisted another 1 this term, attracting the Toons, West Brom, Swansea and Bournemouth amongst others.
The 23-year-old can also play as a striker, giving Benitez a lot of options as he’s capable of playing on both flanks too.
Newcastle need to start scoring goals and earning points on a consistent basis if they are to retain their Premier League status at the end of the campaign, and Mubele looks like a player capable of delivering the goods.
The skillful dribbler is an expert at evading his marker and is a threat on one-on-one situations.
Newcastle could do with his creativity in the final third, and Rennes are likely to let him go if the right price is tabled.
