Rangers legend claims Celtic-target & League Cup-winning midfielder would be perfect signing

Hibernian midfielder John McGinn has caught the eyes of many due to his top form this term, and Rangers legend Barry Ferguson has suggested the Scotland international could be a great addition to the Light Blues midfield.

The Hibees are unbeaten against Celtic in the league this term, with McGinn’s brace holding the title leaders back in September, while he also called the shots when both teams drew again on Sunday.

The 22-year-old has attracted Celtic as a result, with reports of a prospective £2.5million sales being hinted at.

Ferguson reckons Rangers could do with the McGinn’s quality in the middle of the park, and did claim ahead of both sides midweek clash: “I’m just disappointed that Rangers are not even showing an interest.

“I’d love to see him at Rangers. I’ve always liked him but especially the last three or four months. I think he’s come on leaps and bounds.

“I’ve watched his range of passing – that’s something he wasn’t great at. Obviously he’s worked at that on the training ground.

“I think he’s got everything a modern-day midfielder needs. I think he can go to the top. I would like to stay him stay up here in Scotland.

“Obviously Celtic have got the money – I don’t know if Rangers have that kind of money to go and sign him. I don’t think he’ll be at Hibs in the summer.”

Not much has been discussed about Rangers’ plans for the winter transfer window, but it doesn’t seem another midfielder is on top the club’s radar for now.

Could the Gers do with McGinns? Yes considering his quality, but it remains to be seen if they can afford to make a £2.5million signing at the moment.
