Legend says West Ham should sign England international in January

Ray Wilkins has suggested that West Ham should sign Jack Wilshere during the January transfer window.

“I think 25 years of age, I don’t know how much you’d have to pay, but because Arsene doesn’t play him, he needs to move,” Wilkins said.

“I’d love to see him play, because I think he could get to the World Cup. I’d snap him up all day long, I really would.

“London guy, his family are West Ham supporters, why not go to West Ham? David Moyes has them rocking at the moment.”

After spending last season on loan with Bournemouth, Wilshere was linked with a move to the Hammers during the summer transfer window but nothing materialized.

He remained at Arsenal to fight for his place in the side and though he has seen regular playing time in the Europa League and Carabao Cup, he has not achieved regular minutes in the Premier League.

Wilshere still hopes to be part of the England squad that travels to the World Cup and he will need to start playing regularly if he wants to achieve his goal.

A January move could be on the cards if Arsene Wenger does not give him assurances over first team football.

Wilshere will be hopeful to start playing more extensively after the New Year and the Hammers are one of the teams that are likely to make reinforcements considering that they will be fighting for survival.
