According to reports, Fernando Torres could be set to make a Premier League return with either Newcastle or Southampton during the January transfer window.
After falling down the pecking order at Atletico Madrid, the 33-year-old is expected to join a new club on loan in January.
He is also likely to slip further down the pecking order at Atleti after Diego Costa returns to the club during the January transfer window.
Despite being past his peak, Torres has plenty of experience under his belt and also boasted 81 goals from 142 appearances during his time at Liverpool which will likely make him a target of many clubs.
Torres has 18 months remaining on his current deal and wants to see out next season with Atleti before hanging up his boots.
He is however keen to play as much as possible between now and the end of the season and may still feel that he has what it takes to compete in the Premier League.
