Newcastle midfielder Jonjo Shelvey picked up a nasty hand injury in a training ground bust-up last week.
The English midfielder was acting as peacemaker during a scuffle between Jamaal Lascelles and Mo Diame at the club’s Darsley Park training ground.
Shelvey sustained a fractured in the process, and had to seek medical attention afterwards.
It’s said he currently has his left hand in a cast, but reports claim he is likely to be fully healed ahead of weekend’s clash against Southampton.
The news will come as a huge boost and relief for manager Rafael Benitez as his side can’t afford to miss the huge influence of the former Swansea man.
The 25-year-old has started just 2 league games thus far, missing 3 others to a suspension following his sending off against Tottenham.
Newcastle visit the Saint Mary’s on Sunday and will hope to secure their 4th win of the campaign.
With Shelvey very likely to retain his starting berth, the Magpies’ chances of leaving the south Coast with all 3 points are high.
