Sky Sports reporter Geoff Shreeves has said that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp does not deserve the criticism that he has been getting due to his sides performances this season.
The Reds are currently on a frustrating run of form after winning one of their past several games in all competitions and their defence in particular has looked sloppy.
The Reds also occupy seventh position on the Premier League standings and are already several points adrift of the Manchester clubs at the top of the standings. Their Champions League campaign has also begun on a frustrating note after draws against Spartak Moscow and Sevilla.
Shreeves feels that the criticism that Klopp has been receiving is unfair. He also added that the German brought progress to the club by helping them to finish in the top four last season.
He said, “Personally I think it’s a bit harsh on Jurgen Klopp, the criticism. I think only once in the previous seven or eight seasons they’ve finished in the top four. So that’s huge progress last season.
“Where they’re sat, and it’s still very early in the season, yes it’s obvious to anybody they’re not as strong defensively as they want to be. But they’re in the Champions League, it’s still early on.”
