Arsenal legend Martin Keown has said that Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson and Tottenham star Eric Dier need to learn how to open the play up.
The duo partnered in midfield for the England national team during their 1-0 win against Slovenia on Thursday night but neither were particularly impressive.
The pair lacked creativity as the Three Lions struggled to break down Slovenia. Dier has been impressive while on duty for Tottenham but he does not seem to show the same level of flair when on duty for the England national team.
Keown said that Dier and Henderson need to improve by stating, “Henderson and midfield partner Eric Dier need to learn to let the ball roll across their bodies and play a quicker pass.
“Despite Harry Kane’s late goal, we’re not getting the ball into him early enough as it stands and he is central to England’s hopes in Russia.”
England secured their qualification for the 2018 World Cup with the win after Harry Kane successfully converted a Kyle Walker cross.
