According to reports, West Ham remain keen on signing former Manchester City and Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna. The 34-year-old Sagna is currently a free agent after having been released by City at the end of last season.
French outlet L’Equipe have reported that the Frenchman was close to joining Chelsea during the summer, however a deal fell through after the reigning Premier League champions instead opted to sign Italian Davide Zappacosta.
Sagna has been linked with Leicester and West Ham, however the Hammers could have an advantage as the veteran may be tempted by the opportunity to return to London.
Slaven Bilic’s men are struggling defensively this season and despite being a veteran, Sagna still has what it takes to compete at the highest level as he proved with City last season.
He will be a good signing for the East London club and they will need to act fast as the player will not be short of options.
