Newcastle have a must-win Premier League encounter on their hands when they travel to Liberty Stadium to face off with Swansea on Sunday.
With just 3 points to their name this season, the Toons need all their best players fit going forward, and have been boosted with the return of defensive duo DeAndre Yedlin and Florian Lejeune.
Assistant manager Francisco de Míguel Moreno revealed during Friday’s pre-match conference that: “DeAndre is working very well – he is working hard to get to the game.
“He has been training fully in the last three or four (sessions), so I think he has a good chance to come to the game.
“Lejeune, as well. They are both in the same situation. We have to decide tomorrow (Saturday), because we normally wait until the end to make decisions, but he is progressing well.
“He’s training fully with the team, and if everything’s fine, hopefully he can be in the squad.”
Despite scoring just twice this term, Swansea remain a threat at home, and Newcastle would do well to tighten their defence against Paul Clement’s men in order to leave with a point or 3.
Jamaal Lascelles is expected to continue partnering Ciaran Clark in the heart of the defence should Lejeune, who arrived for £8.7million during the summer transfer window fail to make the starting XI.
The French defender was stretchered off the pitch after 30 minutes during the loss to Tottenham Hotspur on the opening day of the campaign.
Javier Manquillo seems to have established himself at right-back, playing every minute of the campaign thus far, but with Yedlin, who is yet to feature for the Magpies since July’s 2-1 pre-season friendly defeat against Mainz 05 set to return, he could have stiff competition to contend with for the spot.
