Leeds United Sporting director Victor Orta has revealed that the clubs new signings Ezgjan Alioski and Samu Saiz rejected moves to big clubs in Europe in order to join the Yorkshire giants this summer.
Leeds were active in the transfer market this summer as they looked to build a squad that can launch a promotion push this season following their seventh place finish in the Championship last season.
The Macedonia international Alioski arrived from Swiss side Lugano while Saiz arrived from Spanish club Huesca. Both players came off good seasons and also had offers from other clubs. It has been said that Alioski was wanted by high profile clubs in Germany while Saiz was wanted by teams in Spain.
However in the end, both players opted to join Thomas Christiansan’s side and taking about the transfers, Orta said, “I will highlight two good situations; Alioski had offers from Bundesliga teams who play in the Europa League, and he chose Leeds, Samu Saiz had offers from La Liga teams that can play in European competition, and he chose Leeds.
“When we feel this from a player, we really put in hard work to sign them, and this is important; have the feeling that the player wants to play for you.”
